Attachments started and im getting really busy till i have so many things and details to rmb till my phone reminders are packed and i can still forget...sigh..

Went through the first week of attachments last week..

It was at the ward where my grandfather passed away, the first day i walk into the ward, sad memories flowed back..it reminded me of 4 months ago, my grandpa was still here..than slowly, I got over it and able to work..

I was on whole week of morning shift last week, as on thursday and fri, i didnt report to hospital, i went to polyclinic and helped out with a dementia day care centre..

On Wednesday, I had a sad experience..in my cubicle, I have a patient who is mute..however, not much attention was needed to spend on him as he was able to do his daily activites of living, like walking around, eating by himself etc..a very cheerful man too..so on Wednesday,we needed to give him medication through IV drip, so he had to lie on the bed till the medication finish running..all these while i was in the cubicle..and after not long, he called for me, did some hand signals, pointing at the drip..i went to check and it has already finish running, so i went to inform the staff nurse as students were not allowed to off it..and she replied me like quite irritatedly saying..

'I know..tell him to wait can? After I do this than I go..'

so i got nothing to say but headed back to the cubicle and told him to wait awhile..he was very cooperative and he nodded his head..den aft that, i went our of the cubicle, ard 5 minutes later, he pressed the call bell, since i came in from Monday till Wed, he has never pressed the call bell unnecessary..so i attended to him, and he did the same thing pointing at the drip, smiling..so i went to inform the staff again..my fren oso did the same thing as we were from the same cubicle..after that my fren saw Sister and decided to tell sister to help him off it..so sister did and aft tt we saw the patient cry..

We went over to ask him why he cry etc..somehow, we came to know that...he was very very very urgent and needed to go to the toilet..so we saw the urinal beside his bed..it was like 800ml of urine..usually, ppl pass out ard 150-200ml..unless you are urgent, it will be like maybe 250-300ml..his was 800ml at a shot..so he was reallie urgent and no one could help him..that is why he kept asking to take off the drip cuz he want to go toilet..

He cried reallie very sadly..den he hand signal say he is mute, therefore he can tell us what he wants..so he cry..i felt very very sorry for him..when i saw him cry..i almost teared..it was like so hurting...

I have learnt a lesson on Wed that always attend to patient's need, dun wait..at least go and take a look..esp when the patient is mute..as he cant speak...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Life in the ward was so stress as we started to take case and many things are expected from a yr 3..yr 1 and 2 attchments were very diff..it was more relaxing..but now...no way..they will ask you alot of things...so stressful...so i was realie glad that i was able to go HSE for thurs and fri at Tampines Polyclinic..It was such a relaxing place..we helped old ppl..and b4 that i was all stressed up etc, but when i went there, everything is gone..as they are so 'cute'..as dementia pt..they sometimes talk irrelivant stuffs and also they are old, so sometimes what they reply you is very funny..i had a few good laughs..sometimes, some are naive so wat they say are also funny and cute..it was a reallie enjoyable 2 days there..i miss that place.. and the old ppl..we danced with them, play and exercise with them..haha

But the very sad thing of dementia is it will eventually cause death..
Dementia, at the advanced stage, patients will die and become bed-bound as they will forget how to walk, eat, drink etc..
Its so saddening to hear that..
Dementia has no cure..it will just worsen...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Last Thursday, Friday and weekends all spent in church as preparing for the Christmas event..so tiring..as I have to wake up as early as, 5am to go work..and when i reach home its already at night..JIA YOU...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
